Introduction of natural landscape into hard playground
Creating many spaces within an existing open playground has increased play opportunities at this inner London primary school. Carolyn designed the new playground layout to the brief provided by the school and the improvements were constructed in association with Munday and Cramer.
Natural features included beech hedging, new trees, raised planters and a natural garden. A vertical sleeper wall retained the woodchip safety surface for the Robinia wood and rope climbing structure.
The junior playground now incorporates many opportunities for both learning and play and will develop over the years to increase the biodiversity of this urban school.
